Day 3: Helsinki (B)

Begin with a sightseeing tour of Helsinki. This half-day excursion will see you take in Senate Square, the University and the Lutheran Cathedral. Other stops on this outing include Market Square, Kaivopuisto park, Parliament Building, Finlandia Hall, the Sibelius Monument and the Temppeliaukio Church. This church is also known as ‘Rock Church’, thanks to its being carved into the sold rockface. You have this afternoon at leisure to continue exploring Helsinki. You might seek out a traditional Finnish sauna experience, hop aboard one of the city’s vintage trams for a joy ride, or sit down to a feast of Finnish cuisine – cabbage rolls, pea soup, meatballs and heaping spoonfuls of mashed potato.

Day 4: Helsinki – train-icon  Rovaniemi (B)

Have breakfast at the hotel and then make the short walk to the railway station to commence your train journey into Finnish Lapland. This voyage will take up most of the day and concludes with disembarkment in Rovaniemi. The scenery along the way will make the time pass quickly though. You will be met upon arrival in Rovaniemi and transferred to the hotel for check in. Afterwards, you have the rest of the afternoon and evening as leisure time.

Day 5: Rovaniemi (B)

Set out for a visit to Santa’s Village after breakfast. This site is located right on the Arctic Circle and features a bustling post office (you can even send home postcards!) and the home of St. Nick himself. You have free time for lunch before reconvening with the group for a trip to a local reindeer farm to learn about history and importance of these animals with the Sami people. Return to the hotel in the afternoon and have the evening at leisure.

Day 6: Rovaniemi – Saariselka (B, D)

Continue moving into the deep north of Finnish Lapland towards Saariselka. Enroute to the village there is a stop to see the church at Sodankylä. You arrive in Saariselka and check in to your spectacular lodgings for the next two nights: an Aurora Cabin at the Northern Lights Village. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for clear skies to increase your chances of marvelling at the Northern Lights as you lie in bed.

Day 7: Saariselka (B, D)

Enjoy a leisurely morning and then head out to visit a husky farm. Be welcomed by a cacophony of barking pooches and meet the head musher to learn about the lives and training of these iconic Arctic animals. Return to the Northern Lights Village for the afternoon. Following dinner there is an evening excursion – Northern Lights Hunting by Lake Inari. This experience takes place at an Aurora Camp and sees you nurse warm drinks by an open fire and feast on traditional Lapland snacks while you wait for the breathtaking Northern Lights to appear.

Day 8: Saariselka – Kirkenes (B, L, D)

Take a transfer to Kirkenes this morning, and make a stop along the way in Inari for an included visit to SIIDA Museum. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant, and the group continues its travels across the Norwegian-Finnish border and to Kirkenes for check in at the hotel.

Day 9: Kirkenes – Norwegian Coastal Voyage (B, L, D) cruise-icon

A transfer takes you to the Hurtigruten pier in anticipation of embarking on your luxurious Norwegian Coastal Voyage. Set sail at lunch and take in the wonderful views as you dine. Today’s route sees the Hurtigruten ship navigate isles and inlets as it passes through the Lofoten Islands. Have your camera at the ready for this journey; the scenery in this region is arguably some of the most scenic you’ll see on the entire voyage. This landscape is made up of steep mountains, quaint fishing villages and pristine waters. Traverse a narrow opening in the mountains, Raftsundet, to make the 20-kilometre passing between Lofoten and Vesterålen. It is then a tight squeeze as you sail the Trollfjord, a section that is only two kilometres long and 100 metres wide. Reach Svolvær and continue to Stamsund where you will see the lofty peaks of the Lofoten wall. The ship sets a course for the mainland in the evening.

An important rite of passage for travellers today: crossing the Arctic Circle! Join in on celebrating this event by partaking in an Arctic tradition – a spoonful of cod liver oil! Polar Outside Cabin – Our Polar outside cabins are situated mostly on the middle or lower decks and all have bathrooms with shower/WC. They have separate beds, one of which doubles as a sofa, or upper and lower berths. All the cabins have individual specifications.

Arctic Superior – Relaxation and comfort are the hallmarks of our Arctic superior cabins. Situated on both the upper and middle decks, the cabins have bathrooms with shower and WC. They are also equipped with tea and coffee-making facilities. Most have separate beds, one of which doubles as a sofa, and some have double beds. All cabins have individual specifications.

Itinerary: Please note, tour itinerary is subject to change without prior notice based upon weather, traffic condition and other unforeseen occurrences. 

Tipping: Our past guests have left gratuities based on their overall service of USD $13-15 per day, with between USD $3-5 per day being allocated towards the expedition team. Both of these are entirely at your discretion. Gratuities can be added to your on-board account at the end of the voyage or paid in cash on-board. 

Fitness Requirement: Coaches and Zodiac’s are not equipped with wheelchair access, therefore tours are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users and those who are less mobile. 

Health: Different levels of travel involve varying degrees of activity and we recommend a good level of fitness and health in order to fully experience the package and optional tours purchased, including site-seeing by foot, climbing of stairs or extended day touring. It remains each passenger’s responsibility to inform Webjet Exclusives of any health or mobility issues that may impact the running of the tour, both for the safety of the passenger concerned and for other travellers in the group.

Visas: Visas are not included. It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they meet the visa requirements for the country they are visiting. Webjet Exclusives is unable to provide visa advice.

Airline Information:

  • Return economy flights departing Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch with Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad airlines their codeshare partners or similar 
  • Flights include one piece of carry-on and one checked-in baggage per person
  • Once your booking is confirmed, no further changes can be made, and your booking will remain non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable

 Flight Conditions:

  • Note that the total length of the package includes time spent in flight as specified in the itinerary
  • Some flights may depart a day before/after, involve up to 3 transits, stopover or a substitute airline
  • Full names (First, Middle & Surname) as per passport must be provided at the time of booking. Names cannot be changed once booked
  • One-way flights cannot be accommodated. All flights within the package must be utilised, any flight intentionally forfeited will result in later flights being cancelled
  • All flights have been booked to meet minimum connection times as per airline policy and fare rules
  • Flight itineraries will be provided with final documentation
  • Airline schedule changes can occur and are beyond our control. If you have received your documents an updated itinerary will be provided

  • Flights will be ticketed as per the dates and itinerary of the tour unless otherwise advised at the time of completing the booking form
  • If we can accommodate your request at no additional cost flight tickets will be issued as per the request on the booking form and acknowledgement will be sent via email
  • If your flight variation incurs additional airfare and taxes a request for payment will be sent via email. If payment is not received by the date and time advised Webjet Exclusives will proceed to book flights as per the dates of the tour
  • Any additional accommodation outside the tour itinerary will need to be arranged at your own expense. Any alteration to the original flight itinerary offered will forfeit the included airport transfer (if applicable) and you will need to make your own way to and from the airport

Cabin/Class Upgrades (where applicable):

  • Please select your preferred cabin class from the drop-down box on the booking form at the time of making your purchase
  • The quote will be sent via email only. Failure to pay by the stipulated date and time will result in the quote expiring, by which Webjet Exclusives will proceed to book the economy airfare included in your package
  • A flat fee of $350.00 per person for this service, plus any additional airfare and taxes will be quoted if choosing to upgrade your flights to another cabin class
  • Any additional accommodation outside the tour itinerary will need to be arranged at your own expense. Any alteration to the original flight itinerary offered will forfeit the included airport transfer (if applicable) and you will need to make your own way to and from the airport

Tour Only:

  • Tour only options may be available on selected deals, please refer to the fine print tab of the deal for specifics
  • Any additional accommodation outside the tour itinerary will need to be arranged at your own expense. Any alteration to the original flight itinerary offered will forfeit the included airport transfer (if applicable) and you will need to make your own way to and from the airport
  • All tour only bookings remain strictly non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable from the time of purchase. Webjet Exclusives will not be able to assist with flight change requests/schedule changes for airfares not booked by Webjet Exclusives
