Highlights

Get ready to take a bite out of world-class dining, gourmet experiences and exciting destinations on a 12 day Tastes of Southern Australia tour.

Begin by travelling through the Southern Highlands from Sydney to Canberra. This region is as pretty as a picture and is brimming with charming townships, rolling pastures and verdant forest. Arrive in Canberra and dive into the heart of Australian politics with a guided tour of Parliament House.

Cross the mighty Murray River as you go from New South Wales into Victoria, and make your first stop in Victoria at the historic town of Beechworth. Appreciate the Gold Rush-era history of Beechworth, and channel your inner bushranger as you move through Ned Kelly country on the way to Glenrowan and continue south to Melbourne. The Victorian capital of Melbourne has scooped the award as being one of the world’s most liveable cities, and free time here is the perfect opportunity to discover why.

Leave Melbourne to set out on one of Australia’s greatest drives: the Great Ocean Road. Your destination is Warrnambool but there are a number of scenic stops to enjoy along the way, including Lorne and Apollo Bay, the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. Count off another state border crossing as you move into South Australia. Marvel at the brilliant hue of Blue Lake in Mount Gambier and raise a glass to local vintages at a tasting within the Coonawarra wine-producing region. Follow the coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsula, and take a ferry from Victor Harbor to Kangaroo Island. See a boutique gin distillery, South Australia’s oldest European settlement, Vivonne Bay and the sea lion colony at Seal Bay Conservation Park, among other sights, while on the island.

The tour makes its way to Adelaide to show off the delights of the City of Churches, and gourmands then have the chance to sip, swirl and indulge with a day spent exploring the towns and tastes of the Adelaide Hills and the Barossa – two of Australia’s most beloved food and wine destinations.

Continue to the Barossa for lunch before visiting the Jacob’s Creek vineyard to sample some world famous wines. Travel back to Adelaide through a tranquil landscape dotted with stone cottages and olive groves to join your Travel Director and travelling companions for a Farewell Dinner.
