Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B,L,D) cruise-icon

Today travel by coach through the rich farm land of the Red River Delta to arrive at Halong Bay. Designated a World Heritage site in 1994, Halong Bay’s spectacular scatter of islands, dotted with wind- and wave-eroded grottoes, is a vision of ethereal beauty.

Upon arrival, you will board a ship to visit the thousands of limestone islands filled with caves of all shapes and sizes. The sails of junks and sampans gliding along the clear and emerald waters of the bay form a magnificent scene that blends into the sky. You will also have the opportunity to visit some of the hidden grottoes beneath the towering cliffs.

Day 4: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B,L)

Awake early and participate in Tai Chi on the top deck or simply relax and enjoy the sunrise over the bay’s towering islands, a sight not to be missed. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea, before setting out to explore nearby islands by rowboat. Return to the junk for breakfast and take advantage of the sundeck and admire the amazing rock formations of Halong Bay. Your driver will meet you at the Halong jetty then drive back to Hanoi in the afternoon.

Optional tour (at own expense): Hanoi Street food (Dinner included) – Enjoy a walk around the Old Quarter in the afternoon and appreciate the local lifestyles as you wind through Hanoi’s streets. Taste Northern Vietnamese delicacies such as: stuffed pancake, banh my, stuffed sticky rice balls, the unique egg coffee and many more.

Day 5: Hanoi –airplane-takeoff– Danang – Hoi An (B,L)

This morning, we take a city tour of Hanoi and will explore attractions such as the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, Ho Chi Minh Complex (Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda) and Tran Quoc Pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam. Catch a morning flight to Danang.

Upon arrival, you will be meet your guide and be transferred to your hotel.

Day 6: Hoi An (B)

Today you will explore Hoi An on foot, visiting an old merchant’s home, Hoi An Market, a local Chinese temple and the Japanese Covered Bridge. The bridge was first constructed here in the 1590s by the Japanese community to link them with the Chinese quarters. Over the centuries, the ornamentation has remained relatively faithful to the original Japanese design. The French flattened out the roadway for cars, but the original arched shape was restored in 1986. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure or perhaps, you can sign up for one of our optional tours to enhance your journey. 

Optional Tour (at own expense): My Son Sanctuary & Thanh Ha Village.

Depart the hotel for the 40km journey outside Hoi An. Arrive at My Son Sanctuary, a great sample of ancient Champa civilisation situated in the southern region of Vietnam. Stand astounded by a great number of exquisite stone sculptures, temples and towers nestled in tropical jungle. There will be a traditional music show you can choose to enjoy. Around late morning, we will journey back to Hoi An.

Optional Tour (at own expense): Golden Bridge – The trip starts when our guide & car driver pick you up for the transfer. On arrival at the Ba Na mountain foot, we’ll travel by cable car up to the Marseille station. Get out and take a short walk to the Golden Bridge – a break point of the trip – to feel like walking on the clouds. Just newly opened to the public in early June 2018 the bridge which was built in the midst of the forest stands out in yellow. Noteworthy, this unique architecture with the bridge image supported by grey hands, creates a beautiful scenery surprised. Time for taking photos and enjoying the easy breeze, breathtaking view and afterwards, we’ll walk further to a romantic flower garden – Le Jardin D’Amour. The 9 gardens are 9 interesting stories in 9 unique architectural styles. These create a poetic and colorful space. Next, walk to visit Linh Ung Pagoda to admire its sophisticated architecture together with a 27m high Shakyamuni statue which brings us peaceful feeling as visiting this place. Finally, we’ll catch the cable car downhill and then transfer to Hoi An.

Day 7: Hoi An – Danang –airplane-takeoff– Ho Chi Minh City (B,L)

After breakfast, we leave Hoi An for Da Nang airport to fly to Ho Chi Minh City. You will have a half day tour of Ho Chi Minh City with highlights such as, Notre Dame Cathedral, Post Office, War Remnant Museum and soaking up the atmosphere at Ben Thanh market, one of Ho Chi Minh’s liveliest areas.

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City  (B)

Enjoy a day of leisure to explore Ho Chi Minh City. 

Optional Tour (at own expense): Travel to Ben Tre to discover the unique lifestyle of inhabitants living along the Mekong Delta. Board your cruise on Ben Tre River (one of the tributaries of Mekong River) before stopping at a brickwork to see how bricks are made in traditional style by printing and baking. Next, visit a coconut processing workshop located along canal. Walk to a family workshop to observe sleep mats being made while enjoying some fruits and tea. You’ll then take a motor cart or bicycle and travel under shady trees, pass green rice fields and vegetable plains, whilst getting a true understanding for the traditional Vietnamese way of life. Lunch is served at a riverside restaurant. In the afternoon, you’ll take a row-boat along water palm creek and then a boat back to Hung Vuong Pier, where your transport will be waiting to take you back to Ho Chi Minh City. Lunch will be included on your Mekong Delta tour.

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnels (B,L)

Today we visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. During the Vietnam War, guerrilla fighters built a labyrinth of narrow tunnels, using them to hide in during bombing raids and to stage surprise attacks. Today, the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction, giving visitors a unique understanding of what life was like during the Vietnam War.

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City –airplane-takeoff– Phu Quoc Island (B)

Enjoy a free morning at leisure or sign up for an optional tour, before being transfered to the airport for your short one hour flight to Phu Quoc Island! On arrival you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel to commence your beach break.

Phu Quoc Island is a peaceful tropical paradise located within the warm turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand, 50kms from the Vietnamese mainland and a short 60 minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City. The majority of Phu Quoc Island is dedicated to National Park and protected marine environment, providing a memorable experience, with plenty of activities and places to visit. 

Optional Tour (at own expense): See Saigon at Dawn – Experience the lives of the local Saigonese community with a walk through the park. Whilst there, witness the morning rituals that people perform to start their day, from Tai Chi to bird cafes. This walk is sure to further immerse you in the local life of Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 11: Phu Quoc Island(B)

Today is free to do as little or as much as you like. Relax in your hotel, lounge on the beach or explore Phu Quoc.

Day 2: Hanoi

Arrive to Hanoi. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to the hotel for check in. The remainder of the day can be spent at your leisure.

Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B,L,D) cruise-icon                                                           

Step onto a coach this morning and travel to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Halong Bay. The bay is one of Vietnam’s most recognisable coastal landscapes and is the backdrop for tonight’s overnight cruise. Board a traditional Vietnamese junk boat and sail between the bay’s collection of limestone islands, caves and grottoes. 

Day 4: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B,L) cruise-icon

Set an early alarm to wake up and partake in Tai chi on the junk’s top deck, or simply savour a cup of coffee or tea as you watch a sunrise over the bay. This morning’s activity is an exploration of the nearby islands by rowboat. Return to the junk for breakfast and then meet your driver at Halong jetty for the trip back to Hanoi.

Optional tour: Hanoi Street food – Discover the streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter in the most delicious way possible: with a street food tour! This afternoon excursion departs upon your return to Vietnam’s capital and takes you through the Old Quarter’s maze of laneways and alleyways. Sample treats along the way, including stuffed pancake, banh mi, sticky rice balls and egg coffee. Dinner is included.   

Day 5: Hanoi – airplane-takeoff– Danang – Hoi An (B)

Enjoy a city tour of Hanoi this morning and count off the sights, including the Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh complex and Tran Quoc Pagoda. Then catch a morning flight to Danang and be transferred to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of Hoi An upon arrival.

Today you are free at leisure to explore Hoi An, a World Heritage Site.

Optional Tour (additional cost applies, refer fine print): Golden Bridge – Travel to the foot of the Ba Na Hills and ride by cable car up to the Marseille station. It is a short walk to the Golden Bridge from the station. The newly-opened bridge has been designed to make its visitors feel as though they’re walking on clouds. Make sure your camera is charged for the incredible photo opportunities! Continue with a walk into le Jardin d’Amour. The whole garden is made up of 9 gardens, all telling different stories and designed in different styles. The last stop of the excursion is a visit to Linh Ung Pagoda to admire the 27-metre high Shakyamuni statue.

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh – Cu Chi Tunnels (B,L)

After breakfast, head to Cu Chi Tunnels, a byzantine maze of underground passages, chambers and booby traps used by both the Viet Minh and the Viet Cong during Vietnam-US war. The tunnel system had become legendary during the 1960s as a strategic military base and underground community life. In the afternoon, visit famous attractions of Ho Chi Minh City such as Notre Dame Cathedral, Post Office, War Remnant Museum and dive into the colorful Ben Thanh market, one of Ho Chi Minh’s liveliest areas. 

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh  (B)

Explore Ho Chi Minh at your own pace.

Optional Tour (additional cost applies, refer fine print): Mekong Delta – Travel to Ben Tre to discover the unique lifestyle of inhabitants living along the Mekong Delta. Visit fruit and bonsai gardens, a coconut candy workshop and a rice paper mill.   • Within 72 hours of completing your booking request online, you will receive an email from our Travel Partner which will include a link to complete their mandatory booking form.
  • Our Travel partners booking form must be completed to secure your requested travel date.
  • If your requested date of departure is not available, the tour supplier will contact you directly.
  • Completion of this booking form will allow the tour supplier to secure air tickets and tour components.
  • Voucher valid for 1 person(must purchase 2 vouchers)

Deposit information:

  • A deposit of $949/$1,299 per person is due at the time of purchase in order to secure your date.
  • A deposit of $859/$1,209 per person are due at the time of purchase in order to secure your date if this option is selected.
  • All peak season surcharges and interstate surcharges (if applicable) are also due at the time of purchase and will be reflected at the checkout stage.
  • Final payment is due 120 days prior to travel and will be collected by our Travel Partner. If you book within 120 days of travel, you will be sent an invoice within 7 days for final payment.
  • Invoices will be emailed to you in advance and it is your responsibility to ensure payments are made prior to the due date
  • Should payment not be received by the due date, your booking will be cancelled and all prior payments will remain strictly non-refundable.

Flight Information

 

Airline:

  • Return economy airfare with Air New Zealand, Thai Airways, Vietnam Airlines, China Airlines via Taipei or similar 
  • Including a maximum of 1 x checked bag up to 23kg per passenger.
  • One return airfare is supplied per voucher.
  • Names cannot be changed once flights have been booked. Once we receive your form and your dates are available, your booking will be completed – no further changes will be possible.
  • The airfare remains non-refundable at all times.

Flights:

  • Some flights may depart a day before the itinerary and involve up to 2 transits. These changes are beyond our control and are subject to availability and airline schedule changes.
  • Full names (First, Middle & Surname) as per passport must be provided for ticketing. Passport Details are also required at time of booking in order to confirm your flights. 
  • Once your flights are confirmed and ticketed, flights are non-refundable and non-changeable.
  • Flight itineraries will not be provided until 30 days prior to departure, along with final documentation.

Arriving early/Extending your trip: From$220 per person (subject to availability and applicable fare difference).
